11 Second Club Animation

It's done! It's done! By the hair of my chinie chin-chin it's done!
"Your job is to break through barriers, not to accept blame and say Wah Wah Wah. So What?"
"I Don't Cry."
"You want to be really great? Have the courage to fail big and stick around!"

11 Second Club Inspiration

I plan to have my character shift between two personalities and talk to himself in a mirror. The idea came from the Total Drama series character Mike.

Batch Renders

Here's my official batch renders for Anticipation, Staging, and Solid Drawing.

Anticipation

Staging

Solid Drawing

An end to the long road

So I've finished with the 12 Principles. I plan on switching to the mac side to attach my batch render in after effects.
Here's a frame from each of my last two lessons (Staging and Solid Drawing)

The last is a different frame for the Staging Lesson.

Appeal 2 - Thinking

So here's the 20th tutorial video. It doesn't do any actual animating (more posing) so I did another screencap.
I'll come in and do my batch rendering after the last 2 videos, since I actually have to take m files to the mac side fore aftereffects.

Appeal and Anticipation

I managed another 2 videos today, along with a bunch of effort trying to find where my transform gizmos ran off to. Here's a picture from each. The Embarrasment appeal was just a pose, so I took a screencap of that. The other image is just to show that I have done the lesson, I have batch rendered, but I havent had a chance to bring them into aftereffects.

Ease In Ease Out

Wheel- I see why this can be important.

Person - Monkey see monkey do.

Arcs

Path of Action Video - I can't wait to learn how to properly render in Max.

Subtle Video - Not bad. I couldn't get the link system to set up properly, but I still added the arc properly.

3DS Max Principles - Exaggeration

Here's my attempted render of the first 3DS Max Principles of Animation.

Dance the night away

So I went in and did the the random dance animation. I don't think mine will be as complex as others but that doesn't really bother me. Why? Because even though my animation only lasts 1-2 seconds it still happens to be a pretty decent animation.
I did 2 versions of the same dance: Extended and Hardcore. Hardcore is 1 second long whereas extended goes to 2.
I Decided to go in and loop it for 8 seconds. Here ya go.

Batch Renders via AfterEffects

Most of these batch render files are using the tutorial guy's final versions. This post is purely to show that I can batch render, as every other post before now was the work I did following the tutorials.
The videos are in no particular order.

12 Principles of Animation in Maya. Final Video!

So I just finished squash and stretch and have just one question... How did he have the squash value (under inputs, bShp_jelloVolume01, bShp_jelloVolo01) already? Did he make it?? or is it really simple to find?
Still problems with batch rendering, so I'm stuck with Playblasts (not complaining, I like Playblasts).
Also, it didn't give me the option to use mental ray, so it's currently set as Maya Vector.

Problem in Rendering (Video 11)

I figured out secondary animation pretty well. Other than that, I've only problems piecing the batch render together and getting my batch render video to play. Wish me luck.

Following through to the end

So I learned how to do some follow through, and now that I'm dead exhausted for various reasons I'm going to go take a nap before my other two studio classes.

Following Through

I had a bit of problems getting the rope to move. Then I realized, i didn't have interactive playback turned on! That was a little saddening.

Cleaning with a meaning

Combining Pose to Pose and Straight Ahead seems like it'll definitely make some awesome animations. The flow is quite nice.

To Pose (to pose) or Straight ahead, that is the question!

I'll admit that Pose to Pose is quite neat and tidy, but this straight ahead is quite refreshing.
The delay you see is due to the default number of key frame (50) and having only 12 frames used. (animation set to half)

12 Principles Lessons 5-6

So doing this Pose by Pose stuff became a little difficult because things kept going wonky. I actually had to scrap this halfway through the first video (5 minutes of video and over 30 minutes of work) and STILL my animation is wonky. I've got the batch render ready but I don't know how to use AfterEffects, so for now I'm going to upload a playblast and hope I can figure it out later.
I do plan on coming back and redoing it so my ankle doesn't roll.

12 Principles - Contrast

The contrast with timing and spacing seems quite understandable.

12 Principles - Read

This one wasn't near as "difficult" as the last. the only thing I couldn't quite figure out is how to deselect the highlighted area on my timeline.

12 Principles - Weight

It took me awhile to actually move the keyframe. I finally got it by hitting and holding shift, clicking the frame, and then clicking the yellow arrow before letting shift go.

Ribbity

And here's the model from Chris that I got to play around with.

And another with a slight modification.

And finally, a side view with him actually walking.
Is it obvious I'm having a bit too much fun with this?

Learning To Rig (Outside of Lesson Plan?)

So I pulled up the Beginner's Guide to Rigging in Maya on Digital Tutors, and I don't really think that this is where I am supposed to be for the class. however, it's still some pretty good knowledge (knowing the usage of parenting in regards to rigging) and I think I'll go ahead with these videos.
You may notice that the video is the beginning of number 4/11, but the page I have open is the end of number 3.

Animation Principles + Practices

Alright, so here's the blog I'll be using for my class. I plan to make some fun (and possibly some weird) animations, wish me luck!
